Canker Sore Cornwall

Canker sores, medically known as aphthous ulcers, are small and shallow lesions that tend to develop on the soft tissues inside your mouth or near the base of your gums. It's important to note that unlike cold sores, canker sores do not appear on the surface of your lips, and they are not contagious. Nevertheless, they can be quite painful and may interfere with your ability to eat and speak comfortably.

In most cases, canker sores resolve on their own within a week or two. However, it's advisable to consult your doctor or dentist if you experience unusually large or painful canker sores or if they seem to linger without healing.

Typically, canker sores present as round or oval-shaped ulcers with a white or yellow center surrounded by a red border. They commonly occur inside your mouth, including on or beneath your tongue, inside your cheeks or lips, at the gum line, or on your soft palate. Some individuals may notice a tingling or burning sensation a day or two before the sores become visible.
